Kim Zhang
Attorney at Law
About Kim Zhang
Kim Zhang’s non-traditional path to becoming a lawyer began with her passion for communication and advocacy. After earning a degree in Sign Language Interpreting (B.A.) from Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana, in 2009, Kim spent four years interpreting in the Chicago area, living in Evanston, Illinois. These experiences shaped her ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, a skill that would later inform her approach to law.
Driven by a desire to create systemic change, Kim attended the University of Michigan Law School, graduating with her Juris Doctor (JD) in 2015 with a focus on criminal law. Her time in law school was marked by hands-on experiences that prepared her for her future career. Between her first and second years, she served as a law clerk intern for the Brown County Circuit Court judges. Between her second and third years, she interned with the Outagamie County District Attorney’s (DA) Office under then-DA Carrie Schneider.
Following graduation, Kim returned to the Outagamie County DA’s office as a special prosecutor. In late 2016, she transitioned to criminal defense, specializing in drug cases and related offenses. Her advocacy is particularly focused on supporting women who have been unfairly labeled as dramatic or hysterical, ensuring their voices are heard.
Kim’s time as an interpreter brings a unique perspective to her work as an attorney. She is well-qualified to work with deaf clients, which also gives her the ability to listen attentively and convey complex information in an accessible way. This helps all her clients make informed decisions. Kim’s commitment to supporting her clients’ choices is evident in her dedication to providing clear guidance while respecting their autonomy.
As a co-founder of Zhang & Eisenheim, Inc., Kim works alongside her partner, Attorney Erik Eisenheim, to provide legal services to clients facing criminal charges. Together, they focus on Criminal and Poverty Law, serving predominantly low-income clients and those in need of compassionate and strategic legal counsel.
When she’s not in the courtroom, Kim enjoys reading books, tackling challenging crocheting projects and spending time with her husband and three wonderful children. She continues to seek new opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
